Defining the future of content.
Designing a logo for Oculus—like any company placed firmly in the future—provided a unique challenge: How to create a visual identity that will be used on platforms that have yet to be created? With a sea of infinite potential and unknowns, we reframed the challenge as an exercise in informed simplicity, conceptualizing and designing a versatile logo that is at once both new and exciting and familiar and friendly.
Along with standalone identification on Oculus products, the new symbol allows for a broad system of sub-brands and a variety of co-branding opportunities. By establishing such an iconic form, the logo can quickly identify both the hardware and software products and stand out in the smallest sizes or most strenuous situations.
Collaborating closely with Cory Schmitz, Nic Taylor, and the Oculus team we were able to make a bold visual move for the brand that enables limitless expansion.
