A great logo identifies rather than communicates. For a quickly evolving and transformative product brand like Hello, I knew their visual identity needed to create brand recognition while continuing to identify and grow alongside them. Taking inspiration from the company’s core mission of “helping people to live better through understanding themselves and the world around them”, I designed a combined symbol and wordmark that is simple, instantly recognizable, and timeless enough to stay relevant regardless of the direction their business takes in the future.
Though the name was short and memorable, the demands of the products called for very small identification which necessitated establishing a symbol or graphic shorthand. Using the simplest geometry I designed a visual that combined the most basic forms of the word hello, the smile and the chat bubble, to create an iconic mark for use across all platforms that was able to take on any treatment, size restraint, or color.
Alongside the visual identity, we designed a custom grid for press and instructional materials, a photo inspiration guide, clothing for the team, and extensive guidelines for consistent implementation of the Hello brand in all scenarios.
